Maze Generator · Step-by-step guide
Create and print a maze worksheet
Choose a maze shape, grid size and difficulty, then print one, two or four black-and-white mazes with an optional matching solution page.
Open the app →Use Maze Generator to make black-and-white maze worksheets in your browser. Learners follow the passages from S (Start) to F (Finish). No sign-in or upload is needed.
1. Choose the maze shape and size
Open Maze settings. Enter a Worksheet title, then set Shape to Rectangle, Circle, Triangle or Hexagon.
Choose Grid size: 11 × 11, 19 × 19, 29 × 29 or 39 × 39. A larger grid generally provides more space for a longer route and a more detailed maze.
2. Set difficulty and start/finish direction
Choose Difficulty:
- Easy · fewer dead ends adds more connecting passages, leaving fewer dead ends.
- Medium provides an intermediate number of dead ends.
- Hard · more dead ends retains more dead ends.
These settings change maze structure; they are not measured learning levels. Under Start & finish, choose Left to right or Top to bottom. The generator puts S and F at the corresponding openings on the maze boundary.
3. Reuse a seed or create a new maze
The Seed · repeat a favourite field contains an editable code. Keep that seed and the same shape, grid size, difficulty and start/finish settings to reproduce a maze with the same app version. Letter case and spaces in the seed matter. A seed is not a saved worksheet or a password.
Select New random seed when you want a different puzzle. You can also type your own seed, such as kelas-3-labirin, and then select Generate mazes.
4. Choose the sheet layout and generate
Set Mazes per sheet to 1, 2 or 4. Choose Paper (A4 or US Letter) and Orientation (Portrait or Landscape). Turn Include solution page on if you want a matching answer sheet.
Select Generate mazes to apply changes to the maze settings, title or seed. When you choose several mazes, the app uses related seeds with :2, :3 and :4 appended for the additional mazes.
Check Your worksheet. The puzzles are black-and-white, and each has a clear start and finish. The optional solution page shows the same maze walls with the correct path marked by a dashed black line. Changing paper size, orientation or the solution checkbox updates the existing preview without generating a different maze.
5. Print or save as a PDF
Select Print / Save PDF. In your browser's print dialog, match the paper size and orientation to the generator. Check the preview, preferably use 100% scale, and disable browser-added headers and footers if they appear.
With solutions enabled, the puzzle sheet and matching solution sheet print as separate pages. To keep a digital copy, choose Save as PDF or an equivalent destination in your browser.
Helpful reminders
- If a maze is too simple, try a larger grid or a harder setting; if it is too difficult, try a smaller grid or Easy.
- A new seed changes the maze. To repeat an earlier maze, restore its exact seed and settings; versions of different apps, including AZ Maze Buddies, do not necessarily create the same pattern.
- This is a regular website, not an offline app. Maze settings are processed in your browser without an account or upload. Save the PDF if you want to keep the worksheet.
